Thailand Offshore Management Visit

On 7 and 8 July, undersigned together with COO Darren Ang and Fellow Uniwise Director Khun Puchanee made a joint Management visit with our largest customer, Chevron Thailand, to their Platong field in the southern Gulf of Thailand.

Platong is a mature field, probably already in operation for some 25 years producing natural gas. It consists of a main central Living Quarters (LQ) and Central Production Platform (CPP), which is where we made our way to after and exhilarating 1.5 hrs helicopter ride on the morning of the 7th. The LQ/CPP is surrounded in a radius of probably some 10-15 miles by a large number (approx 25) of unmanned wellhead platforms and there is also a storage tanker (FSU), in which the liquid by-product of the gas (condensate) is collected and stored. This product is taken off and transported away some 5-6 times a month by and export tanker, the gas is piped to power stations in/around the greater Bangkok area.

On arrival at the LQ we received our facility induction/safety briefing and were assigned to our quarters, 2 to a cabin, quite comfortable. After the very good and generous lunch, we proceeded to visit our vessels. We managed to see a number of our crewboats and had safety engagements with our crews and also the “Miclyn Opal” was on site but we unfortunately did not manage to board her.

It was an excellent experience to be able to visit our assets and people in their normal working environment, rather than in port or in a shipyard. The crew were very responsive and we managed to also do a thorough inspection of each vessel we visited.

Back on the LQ we had a good customer feedback session with the actual users of our boats and received a good deal of feedback and improvement suggestions.

After a good dinner and a movie in the luxurious theater on the LQ we had a comfortable night of sleep and very early resumed our vessel visit and followed some of them to the remote wellhead platforms.

The weather throughout the visit was good (so the seasickness pills were largely unused!) and the chopper ride back a grand sightseeing tour over the Gulf.

We plan to do another visit like this within this year, in the northern part of Chevron Thailand this tile likely.

Rest me to thank Capt Chatchai of Chevron for organizing this trip and accompanying all the way

Diederik C de Boer
Chief Executive Officer
